Hello! I'm Rosita, a
data scientist
at the
Texas Policy Lab
at Rice University. I am currently analyzing data related to
early childhood development programs to better understand the
populations they serve.
There are so many things I love about data science, from the probability
and statistical puzzles, to the visual challenges of communicating
meaningfully and effectively, and at its very core, the deeper truths that are
accessible to us via statistical thinking. Mathematical modeling
and visualization have changed
how I understand the world around me,
and shown me how invaluable data literacy
is in all aspects of life.
I am an avid Python/Jupyter user
(author of two small PyPI packages and a JupyterLab theme-extension),
a once-resitant-but-now-coming-around-to-R user, and
currently in the midst of learning
d3.
Last year I graduated from Caltech with a B.S. in chemistry.
Now that I have free time, I enjoy trying new recipes, watching tv,
reading poetry, and playing bridge.
